How one cough can overwhelm your environment

Do we really need to wear masks with COVID-19 still a threat as Ohio and other states reopen? Is it actually all that important that we’re washing hands constantly? Cleaning surfaces regularly?

The truth is, until you see it, it’s hard to understand how quickly one cough, one sneeze, even speaking can propel a virus through a single room and blanket the environment.

Using computer simulations from Ohio State researchers such as Mark Weir, an assistant professor in environmental health sciences at the College of Public Health, this video illustrates how rapidly a virus can spread and what measures will keep us safe as Ohio reopens.
